I used the Mudro Lake entry point this year, and camped on the North end of Fourtown Lake.
We didn't do any fishing, but previous campers left plenty of their tools behind.
Although not as common or intensive as it was further to the East,
parts of this area were logged from 1890 to 1930 via
logging roads that extended from South of Angleworm Lake
to Gun Lake, and evidence can still be found - mostly in bits of metal left behind.
This area is home to a number of Beaver lodges, and one of them passed
our campsite like clockwork every night as he made his rounds.
The campsite also included a busy Bluejay family and a
Bald Eagle from the neighboring lake occasionally kept
an eye on us.
On the North side of Fourtown Lake is a long marshy area that can
be crossed to reach Moosecamp Lake, and although it isn't quick -
it's much quicker than going around via Boot/Fairy/Gun Lakes,
with only one short portage to get around a Beaver Dam.
The Fall Colors were just starting to pick up while we were there,
with several trees giving us brilliant displays of red and yellow
but most had yet to change.
It was mostly overcast while we were there but we did see several beautiful
sunsets and cloud formations.
As always an obligatory group photo:
